Emily Hunt, Louisiana Tech University Foundation

Emily Hunt is the Burton Risinger Endowed Assistant Professor in the School of Accountancy at Louisiana Tech University, a position she has held since 2022, and previously served as an assistant professor at Mississippi State University. A CPA, she earned her master's and Ph.D. in accounting from the University of Arkansas and her bachelor's in accounting from Louisiana Tech. Before entering academia, she worked as a staff accountant in both the private and public sectors and taught high school business courses.

Her research focuses on audit quality and auditor specialization, and her work has appeared in journals including the Review of Accounting Studies, Accounting Horizons, and The CPA Journal. She teaches across a variety of accounting disciplines, including financial, governmental, and nonprofit accounting.

She serves the School of Accountancy and Louisiana Tech in a number of capacities, including chairing the curriculum committee, coordinating the accounting principles courses, and serving as secretary on the executive committee for the college-wide faculty senate. She also supports students as an academic advisor and serves the broader profession by regularly reviewing for several academic journals. Her newest adventure is preparing to become the incoming Director of the School of Accountancy at Louisiana Tech.
