Brandea Averett, Louisiana Department of Revenue
Brandea Averett is a seasoned attorney and public servant with over two decades of legal and tax policy experience. She currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legal Affairs at the Louisiana Department of Revenue. Since joining the Department in 2012, Brandea has held a range of legal and leadership positions, including Director of the Tax Policy and Planning Division and Attorney Supervisor in the Litigation Division. Her work has spanned complex areas such as severance, excise, sales, and withholding taxes, where she has provided strategic legal guidance and helped resolve high-stakes tax disputes.
Brandea began her legal career in private practice, focusing on estate planning, tax controversy, bankruptcy, and real estate law. She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Florida State University College of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana State University.
